Dense, Deeply Nested Design is a Great Alternative to Custom QuiltingI suggested this design to a client who thought she wanted custom quilting for her Kaleidoscopic Star quilt and it came out amazing, adding so much energy and life to the quilt! This design sucked up fullness in areas of the quilt that had "piecing personality" and completely camouflages those places where seams don't quite match (that would have been glaringly obvious with SID and custom quilting). This is one of those stellar E2E designs that can elevate a quilt to something truly special, highlighting its best attributes. The only caveats: This is a very dense and deeply nested pattern. Even sizing it with a 16" row height, the quilting lines were about 3/8" apart. For that reason, it's not a good design choice for someone who wants less dense quilting because you wouldn't be able to enlarge it enough and have it still fit your throat/safe area. However, for clients who do like dense quilting, this is a showstopper that stitches out smoothly with no backstitching, well thought out stitch paths for easing in fullness without any tucks or pleats, and it realigned easily from row to row. Will definitely be using this design again.
